There is a low to moderate chance for thunderstorms across deep South Texas late tonight, with isolated severe thunderstorms possible across the upper RGV, Rio Grande Plains, and western Ranchlands. In any severe storm, large hail (1 inch or larger) and damaging winds (58 mph or greater) will be the main threats.
A Small Craft Advisory remains in effect for the offshore Gulf waters through 9 AM. A Small Craft Advisory is now in effect for the Laguna Madre and Nearshore Waters through 7 PM this evening. Southeast winds 15 to 25 knots and seas of 4-7 feet.
A High Risk of Rip Currents continues along local beaches through early this evening.
There is a Marginal Risk (level 1 of 4) of excessive rainfall across Deep South Texas from Wednesday to Saturday morning. A stalling front to our north will increase rain chances from tonight onwards (generally 30-60%), with the greatest chances (50-80%) overnight Thursday. Rainfall over this time period will most likely be between 1 to 2 inches, with locally heavier amounts of 3 to 4 inches or more possible. Continue to check back for updates to the forecast.
There is a High Risk of rip currents at area beaches today.
Increasing chances of showers and thunderstorms will bring some relief from the heat by late week. Daily rain chances will continue into the weekend.
