Last Map Update: Thu, Oct 1, 2026 at 12:04:57 pm CDT

A slow-moving cold front combined with tropical moisture will result in widespread heavy showers and storms late today and into early tomorrow. Heavy rainfall may lead to isolated significant flash flooding.
A front will bring widespread rain chances later this week into this weekend. Between Thursday afternoon/evening to Saturday morning, widespread rainfall totals of 2-4 inches are expected, but locally higher amounts of 3-6+ inches are possible. The greatest rainfall totals are expected in western counties (Zapata, Jim Hogg, Starr). Heavy rain can lead to flash flooding, especially in poor drainage, low-lying, and urban areas.
Heavy rainfall may result in isolated flash flooding across portions of the region Friday and into the weekend.
Another hot afternoon is in store today across Deep South Texas with widespread heat indices in the triple digits. Isolated sea breeze showers and storms may develop late this morning and afternoon, with more widespread chances late this afternoon and tonight as a cold front approaches.
Warm temperatures and a moderate risk of rip currents are forecast for area beaches today.
Rain chances and cooler temperatures are expected through early next week due to an unsettled weather pattern. Locally heavy rainfall may result in minor flooding issues or flash flooding.
