Temperatures and Rain Chances

A Wind Advisory is in effect for Coastal Cameron, Willacy, and Kenedy Counties (including the barrier islands) from 10 AM Friday to 1 PM Saturday. For inland Cameron, Willacy, and Kenedy Counties along with Brooks and Hidalgo Counties, a Wind Advisory is in effect from 1 PM Friday through 7 AM Saturday. Northerly winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 to 50 mph are expected.

Gale-force winds and rough seas are forecast across all lower Texas Coastal Waters Friday into Saturday behind a cold front. A Gale Warning is in effect from 10 AM Friday through 1 PM Saturday for winds 20-30 knots gusting to 40 knots, and seas 11 to 16 ft.

Strong northerly winds are expected behind the cold front on Friday, especially Friday night into Saturday morning, with most-likely wind gusts of 35-45 mph. This, combined with low relative humidity behind the front and dry fuels will increase fire danger Friday afternoon through Saturday Morning.

A High Surf Advisory is in effect 1 PM Friday through 7 AM Sunday. Large breaking waves between 6-11 feet are expected in the surf zone.

There is a High Risk of Rip Currents 7 AM Friday through 7 AM Sunday, along with a Coastal Flood Advisory 1 PM Friday through 7 AM Sunday. Visitors and residents are strongly encouraged to stay out of the water.
