A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for Brooks, Jim Hogg, Kenedy, Starr and Zapata Counties until 6 AM. This means conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds and large hail. Be alert for rapidly changing conditions and ensure you have multiple ways to receive warnings tonight.

A few showers and thunderstorms may develop this afternoon, but the main severe weather threat will be tonight into tomorrow morning as strong to severe thunderstorms develop across the Rio Grande Plains and northern Mexico.

A Marginal Risk of excessive rainfall exists across portions of Deep South Texas on Tuesday night and Wednesday with the next round of showers and thunderstorms. Portions of Norther Jim Hogg and Zapata Counties are now in a Slight Risk for excessive rainfall.

There is a MODERATE RISK of rip currents at the beaches along the Lower Texas Coast today.

Drier weather returns to the region Thursday and will persist through at least the upcoming weekend. Additional shower and thunderstorm chances could arrive again early next week.
