Heavy Rain and Mountain Snow Lingers in California; Winter Storm Impacting the Great Lakes and Northeast U.S.

An atmospheric river will wind down through today across California with lingering heavy rainfall, heavy mountain snow, and gusty winds. A wintry mix of freezing rain, sleet, and snow will cause hazardous travel conditions for the Great Lakes into the northern Mid-Atlantic and southern New England today through Saturday morning. Overview

A strong low pressure system brought heavy snow to portions of the area starting late Friday night April 22nd and persisting through Sunday April 24th. Blizzard conditions impacted southeast Montana, especially on Saturday, which included strong and gusty winds along with the visibility being reduced to 1/4 mile or less at times.  This storm system also brought beneficial moisture to the area including snowfall that contained a high moisture content.
