A system moving through Texas will bring scattered showers and thunderstorms to the Coastal Bend late this afternoon through around midnight, mainly near the coast and over the Gulf waters. A few storms could become strong to severe, producing isolated damaging winds or hail. The Storm Prediction Center has placed coastal areas under a Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 5) for severe weather.
Partly to mostly cloudy with increasing chances for scattered showers and storms by late afternoon (roughly 5 PM onward), especially near the coast. Highs in the 80s with increasing clouds ahead of a weak cold front.
A mostly sunny day is in store for those heading to the beach with a chance for showers and thunderstorms mainly after 5pm. There is a low risk of rip currents. Remember that a low risk does not mean no risk as locations near jetties will have a persistent threat.
Scattered thunderstorms will move southeast across the coast through midnight before tapering off overnight as a front pushes through. Lows in the 50s inland and lower 60s near the coast. Drier and cooler air filters in behind the front.
Dry and pleasant weather returns Sunday with low humidity and near-normal temperatures. Sunday night into Monday morning will be the coolest period, with lows in the 40s inland and 50s near the coast. A gradual warming trend begins early next week as high pressure shifts east, bringing highs back into the mid-80s to low 90s by mid to late week. No rain is expected through the workweek.
