Severe Weather and Heavy Rainfall for Southern Plains; Strong Pacific Storm Moves Ashore

Heavy rainfall and flooding concerns continue for portions of Texas into the lower Mississippi Valley. Severe thunderstorms are expected to redevelop across areas of western Texas later Saturday. Expect warm temperatures today with highs west into the 90s; 80s east. Clouds and haze will remain in the area.
Temperatures once again will remain in the lower to mid 70s tonight under mostly cloudy skies.
Hot and humid conditions are forecast for next week. This will result in an increasing risk of heat illnesses since bodies are not yet acclimated to the heat. The most significant heat will be on Wednesday and Thursday when there will be a major risk of heat impacts.
Partly to mostly cloudy skies continue this weekend with a moderate southeasterly breeze. There is a MODERATE risk of rip currents. Use caution if you venture into the water.
Isolated thunderstorms are possible west through this weekend with a gradual warming trend expected through next week. Hot and humid conditions are expected by the middle of next week with a medium chance of a heat index over 110.
