An area of low pressure in the Bay of Campeche is producing more organized showers and thunderstorms. This disturbance is forecast to move west-northwestward through Friday. A tropical depression could form before reaching northeastern Mexico or South Texas late Friday. Regardless of development, increased rain chances are expected Friday and Saturday along with increasing rip current risk this weekend. We will continue to provide updates as conditions warrant so be sure to monitor the forecast over the next couple of days.
Expect mainly sunny skies with a very low chance of storms today across area beaches with highs in the upper 80s. South winds of 10-15 mph. There is a LOW risk of rip currents today but a MODERATE risk Friday. Hazardous beach conditions may continue into the weekend.
Mostly clear skies tonight with lows in the mid-70s to around 80 across the area. South to southeast winds of 5-15 mph.
Moderate rain chances Friday and Saturday due to increasing moisture from a current tropical disturbance over the Bay of Campeche. Daily low rain chances along the seabreeze will continue into the middle of next week. Moderate to major heat risk will continue with highs 90-105°F and lows from the mid 70s to low 80s.
