Major Severe Thunderstorm Event Today

A major severe weather and thunderstorm event is expected today across the Southern tier of the U.S. Tornadoes, very large hail and severe damaging wind gusts are likely across the Lower to Mid Mississippi Valley into the Mid South and South, especially from northeastern Louisiana into central Mississippi. Overview

Two tornadoes, both rated EF-1, produced damage in parts of west central Illinois west of the Illinois River valley during the evening of March 28th. Around 8 pm CDT, a tornado damaged homes and outbuildings south and east of Ipava in Fulton County. A second tornado damaged trees and roofs of buildings on the far southwest side of Peoria around 9 pm.
