Dangerous Heat in the East; Critical Fire Weather in the Southwest

Dangerous, record-breaking heat will intensify across most of the central and eastern U.S this week. Heat indices will likely exceed 100 degrees. Heat is likely to continue across the eastern U.S. through the Independence Day holiday weekend. Overview: 11/05/17 Richland County Tornado

A High Precipitation (HP) supercell thunderstorm produced a tornado in northwest Richland County about 3 miles north of Noble at 5:24 pm CST on Sunday, November 5, 2017. The tornado was on the ground for nearly seven miles and nine minutes before dissipating about 3 miles north-northwest of Olney.

Other severe thunderstorms during the late afternoon of November 5th produced large hail, damaging winds and very heavy rain in parts of east central and southeast Illinois.
