Thunderstorms and Heavy Rain Across the Southern and Eastern US; Heat and Fire Weather Concerns in the West

Showers and thunderstorms are expected across the southern and eastern US this week, with heavy rain and localized flooding, particularly near the Gulf Coast. Ryan KnutsvigRyan Knutsvig is our new Meteorologist-in-Charge (MIC). His first day in the office was Wednesday, June 23.

Ryan is a native of eastern North Dakota, and earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in Atmospheric Sciences from the University of North Dakota. He joined the National Weather Service in 2002, and has been stationed in Texas, North and South Dakota, Wyoming, Nevada, and Nebraska. He comes to our office after serving as the MIC at the NWS office in Grand Forks, ND.
