Excessive Rainfall in the Southern Plains into the Lower Mississippi and Upper Midwest

A power outage near the NWS Lincoln office has caused five of our NOAA Weather Radios to be offline. Phone line issues are preventing the signals from reaching those five transmitters. Phone company technicians have been notified and the repair process has been started. The time of repair is unknown at this point. We apologize for any inconvenience.

The following five NOAA Weather Radio stations operated by the Lincoln NWS office are off the air during this outage:

  • Galesburg:  KZZ-66 (162.400 MHz, channel 1)
  • Newton:  KXI-48 (162.450 MHz, channel 3)
  • Paris:  KXI-47 (162.525 MHz, channel 6)
  • Peoria:  WXJ-71 (162.475 MHz, channel 4)
  • Shelbyville:  KXI-46 (162.500 MHz, channel 5)

In the event of severe weather, it will be important to have alternate ways to receive warning information. A number of nearby NWR stations provide some coverage, and smartphone apps that are configured to receive warning products will continue to do so. Here is a listing of nearby stations you can try (note, in some cases, only portions of the county closer to the transmitter site will receive adequate coverage):
