A National Weather Service Damage Assessment Team has surveyed the storm damage in Hale County. It has been determined the damage was the result of a tornado. The tornado has been rated an EF-0 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale. Damage estimates were consistent with winds around 80 mph.
A tornado formed approximately 5 miles northeast of Greensboro and tracked northeastward roughly parallel to Highway 25. The tornado dissipated immediately southwest of Hogglesville. Three homes sustained minor damage. One barn was destroyed. At least 40 trees were uprooted along the tornado damage path. The tornado damage path was 5.84 miles long and was 100 yards wide at its widest point.
