Heads up, Western Montana! 🧊 There is a 20% chance for freezing rain on Monday morning across the valleys of northwest and west-central Montana. While the probability is currently low, even a small amount of ice can lead to slick travel and slow commutes. Impacted areas include the Highway 93 corridor (Missoula to Kalispell) and I-90 (Lookout Pass to Missoula). Plan for extra travel time and stay tuned for updates as the timing gets refined!
High pressure will keep the Northern Rockies under a stagnant weather pattern through the weekend and much of the upcoming week. Expect valley fog, low clouds, and potential air quality issues. Please check for local burn bans. One hiccup in the pattern arrives Monday and Tuesday. A weather system slides over the top of the ridge bringing snow to the mountains and a wintry mix (rain/snow/ice) to the valleys. Travelers should remain aware of deteriorating road conditions due to freezing fog and precipitation chances. The influence of high pressure returns, in earnest, for the remainder of the work-week.
