Major River Flooding in Western Washington; Very Cold Temperatures in the Northern Plains

Major river flooding following heavy rainfall will continue to bring a significant risk to life and property in Washington. Arctic air will bring near record cold temperatures and dangerous wind chills from the Northern High Plains into the Mid-South and Mid-Atlantic through the weekend. Heads Up Western Montana/North-Central Idaho! 🌧️➡️❄️ Another atmospheric river early next week: ✅ Mon-Tue: Wet & Mild. High snow levels (6000-7000ft). Watch for renewed rises on creeks & rivers. Mudslide potential ✅ Wednesday: Cold Front hits! 🥶 Rain turns to snow showers down to valley floors. 🚗 Travel Hazard: Slick roads, especially over passes. Winds could be damaging, with trees blocking road access and power outages. Drive with extreme care.
Winter Weather Alert Friday-Saturday morning ❄️🚗 Heads up, Northwest Montana! Moderate to occasional heavy snow will impact travel conditions Friday into early Saturday across the Glacier Region. 📍 Where: The biggest concern is from Essex to Marias Pass on US-2 for slick conditions and reduced visibility in snow. But localized freezing rain may extend as far west as West Glacier. ⚠️ Impacts: Snowfall Rates: Bursts of 0.5" to 1" per hour are possible. Travel: Expect slick conditions and reduced visibility at times. Snow Levels: Generally 2000-3000 ft, with brief wet snow or light freezing rain possible in the valley floors. Please allow extra time on Highway 2 and surrounding areas.
Given all the recent moisture, there is a good potential for fog (locally dense) the next few mornings. Please adjust your driving accordingly.
