The Beach Hazards Statement for Pacific Coast beaches has been extended to now go through Wednesday afternoon. Long-period S-SW swell will continue to generate hazardous conditions at the beach, including sneaker waves and strong rip currents. Stay back from the water’s edge, stay off of jetties and piers, and NEVER turn your back on the ocean.
Increased westerly winds will develop on Friday and Saturday, with sustained wind speeds around 15 mph and gusts to near 30 mph. There’s a medium to high chance that winds could exceed 40 mph along the North Bay and Big Sur coasts and through the northern Salinas Valley and the Altamont Pass. Secure any loose outdoor articles. Be prepared for hazardous driving conditions for lightweight and high profile vehicles. Stay tuned for weather information.
