Spring Weather Hazards Across the U.S. Thursday

Gusty winds and low relative humidity will bring critical fire weather to the central and southern Plains and south Texas Thursday. Widespread high winds will continue to impact the interior Northwest, northern Plains, and Upper Midwest Thursday. Widespread minor HeatRisk is expected through Saturday with temperatures well above normal. To mitigate your risk: drink plenty of water or sports drink, do not leave children or pets in unattended vehicles, leave windows open at night and/or use fans, and reduce activities outdoors and seek shade when possible.
Moderate HeatRisk is expected Sunday through Tuesday with temperatures well above normal. To mitigate your risk: drink plenty of water or sports drink, do not leave children or pets in unattended vehicles, take frequent breaks in air conditioning or shade, and shift activities outdoors to cooler times of the day.
With well above normal temperatures and people flocking to the beach, it's important to know that even though the air will be hot, the ocean will remain cold. Remember to always wear your life jacket and never turn your back on the ocean!
