Heat Wave Expands to the East Coast; Flash Flooding Likely in the Central Plains into the Midwest; Severe Thunderstorms in the Northeast

Dangerous, prolonged heat is ongoing in the Mid-South to Mid-Mississippi Valley and heat expands into the Northeast for a brief period today. Widely scattered instances of flash flooding due to heavy rains are forecast from northeast Kansas to much of Indiana. Spotter Training Cancellations

Out of an abundance of caution and to assure public safety, the following Spotter Training events have been cancelled. 

The National Weather Service will be looking at dates and times for rescheduling these sessions.

Cancellations Include:

  • Lagrange County - 3/12
  • Elkhart County - 3/17
  • LaPorte County - 3/24
  • Whitley County - 3/25

This is in coordination with efforts to mitigate potential impacts of COVID-19. We will be evaluating the situation over the next several weeks.
