Lake-effect Snow and Whiteout Conditions in the Great Lakes Region; Below-average Temperatures in the East

Heavy lake-effect and lake-enhanced snow will persist downwind of the Great Lakes and produce some whiteout conditions that could cause difficult travel conditions. A coastal low will produce moderate to heavy snow over parts of southern and eastern New England into the afternoon. The KMPX radar in Chanhassen, MN is operational and fully-functional, but due to a communications issue that is being investigated, some vendors and users are not able to view the data. Our meteorologists have full access to the data and have been using it as normal for the creation of watches and warnings of severe storms. Technicians have been working this issue since Saturday and continue doing so. We apologize for the inconvenience as we continue to troubleshoot the root cause.
