Barry Fading Away; Attention Turns To Major Summer Heat Wave

Post-Tropical Barry continues to steadily weaken and will fade away over the next day or two. The decaying system may still produce very heavy rainfall and possible flash flooding from the Lower Mississippi Valley to the Ohio Valley. Overview

A disturbance moving across the region resulted in thunderstorms developing during the afternoon hours.The main impact associated with these storms was flash flooding. Several locations picked up torrential rainfall amounts over a short time period. Over 4 inches of rain occurred in Union County, Illinois and Pike County, Indiana. Water rescues were needed in Union County and unfortunately 1 fatality occurred there due to the flash flooding. Damaging winds up around 60 mph occurred with several of the storms as well.
