Severe Weather Across the Southeast; Fire Weather Concerns; Record Warmth for the West

Severe thunderstorms will continue today across portions of the Southeast as this system tracks offshore. Meanwhile, dry and breezy conditions will increase fire weather concerns for areas of central Florida today; The threat shifts into portions of the northern Plains on Friday. Overview

A complex of thunderstorms moved south across the region during the early morning of August 12th. The storms intensified from Mississippi County Missouri into the Jackson Purchase region of west Kentucky between 8 and 10 AM. Significant wind damage occurred across Fulton, Hickman and southern Graves counties in Kentucky. There were also 2 EF-1 tornadoes that occurred, with one of them in the city of Hickman. Flash flooding was also reported across portions of this area and extended into Murray, KY.
