All-Time Hottest October Temperatures

Summer-like temperatures persisted into late September and early October due to an unseasonably strong upper level ridge centered over the southeastern United States. This lead to record high temperatures with mid 90s common for 5 consecutive days in some locations. The highest temperatures of the year occurred in some locations (including Evansville) in early October, which is unprecedented. Paducah, Evansville, and Cape Girardeau all experienced their warmest October temperatures on record.
