Thunderstorms and Heavy Rains Across Portions of the Central and Eastern US; Heat Expands to Portions of the East

Widespread showers and thunderstorms, some severe, may produce heavy downpours and flash flooding across much of the eastern and central U.S. Dangerous heat will continue in the Pacific Northwest and expand across portions of the East. Here is a map of observed snowfall totals from Tuesday evening through Wednesday morning. Locations across our area received anywhere from 1 to 4 inches of snow. Sleet mixed in at times especially over portions of southeast Missouri and western Kentucky. The heaviest amounts were seen across southwest IN, southeast IL, and northwest KY where 3 to 4 inches were common. Evansville officially received 3.3 inches, while here in Paducah we saw 1.2 inches. The snow progressed faster than expected across southeast Missouri and western Kentucky, which combined with less moisture, lead to lower amounts in general.
