Hurricane Erin Moving Away from the North Carolina Coast, Dangerous Surf & Rip Currents Continue; Hazardous Heat out West

Tropical storm conditions, storm surge flooding and coastal flooding continue today across the Outer Banks and portions of the Mid-Atlantic coast. Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue this afternoon, with the highest coverage across our eastern and southern counties.
Partly cloudy to mostly sunny and continued warmer than normal. A few isolated showers and storms are again possible late this morning through the early evening hours, south of Interstate 20. Much less coverage is expected than the previous couple of days.
