Tracking Storm System Across the Eastern U.S.

A storm system will continue to produce widespread showers and thunderstorms as it progresses eastward across the central U.S. into the Northeast through the weekend. There are risks of severe thunderstorms and excessive rainfall on Saturday from the Ozarks into the mid-Mississippi River Valley with potential for damaging winds, large hail, tornadoes, and flash flooding. Highs on Saturday will be 5 to 10 degrees above seasonal normals, in the upper 80s to lower 90s. Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible, mainly across the northern half of the area.
Above normal temperatures are forecast through much of the upcoming week, with the coolest temperatures on Sunday. Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible Saturday, mainly across our northern counties.
With continued warm and dry conditions this weekend and the potential for some breezy winds, there could be some elevated fire weather concerns this weekend. Please don't burn during windy or low humidity (dry) conditions.
