Tropical Moisture Brings Heavy Rain to Southwest; Strong Coastal Low to Impact the East Coast

Deep tropical moisture surging into the Southwest U.S. will lead to widespread showers and thunderstorms capable of producing flash flooding the next several days. A strong coastal low will develop late Friday and is expected to bring flooding, high surf, dangerous rip currents, gusty winds and heavy rain to much of the U.S. East Coast through early next week. Overview

On the evening of May 12, 2023, a series of small supercell thunderstorms developed over parts of northeast Kansas and produced several brief tornadoes across Brown and Jackson counties.  Isolated damage was reported, and the more significant damage was done to a homestead southwest of Reserve, KS.
