  1. What is the mission of your organization?
    Raytheon Company, with 2015 sales of $23 billion and 61,000 employees worldwide, is a technology and innovation leader specializing in defense, civil government and cybersecurity solutions. We are one global team creating trusted, innovative solutions to make the world a safer place.
     
  2. What has your organization done to promote a Weather Ready Nation? (i.e. what did your WFO recognize your for?)
    Raytheon recently took the initiative and committed resources to build 16 Weather-Ready Nation safety education modules. This effort brought together contributions from NOAA and other WRN Ambassadors, including FEMA and the Georgia Science Teachers Association. This year, these modules went operational online in partnership with UCAR, another WRN Ambassador. These modules are a great way for schools, families, and individuals to learn what weather risks exist in their area and how best to prepare.
     
  3. What does being an Ambassador mean to you?
    For Raytheon, our role as a Weather-Ready Nation Ambassador is part and parcel to our corporate responsibly efforts. While we are a major provider of weather and training technologies, we view the development of the online modules deployed to keep citizens across our society safe in extreme weather as a logical complement to the important work that we do. Our work in developing and deploying these with NOAA, FEMA, and several other Ambassadors has been very rewarding.   4. What are your goals for the next year concerning preparedness?
    In the next year, we at Raytheon aspire to expand the distribution of these modules, particularly in educational settings. Beyond expanded channel distribution, we would love to partner with other Ambassadors who might have additional ideas and resources to contribute to the continuous improvement of the modules.
