National Weather Service United States Department of Commerce

In 2017, the Weather-Ready Nation (WRN) Ambassador Initiative surpassed 6,000 WRN Ambassadors committed to spreading WRN messages and building community resilience when extreme weather threatens. To honor the great work and accomplishments of our WRN Ambassadors, NOAA/NWS is formally recognizing those Ambassadors who have made significant contributions to building a Weather-Ready Nation. NOAA/NWS would like to congratulate these Ambassadors for their great work this past year! By serving as a change agent and leader in their community, they have inspired others to be better prepared, and promoting taking action to minimize or even avoid the impacts of extreme weather, water and climate events.

NOAA’s Weather-Ready Nation is building community resilience in the face of increasing vulnerability to extreme weather, water and climate events. To achieve this goal, the National Weather Service is working with its partners, but requires the participation and commitment of a vast nationwide network of Ambassadors. Everyday, Weather-Ready Nation Ambassadors serve a pivotal role in affecting societal change, sharing safety messaging, serving as an example, and highlighting successes - all helping to build a Weather-Ready Nation!
