Safe Fishing

Going fishing? Be aware of the dangers of lightning while out on the water. A lightning strike to a vessel can be catastrophic, especially if it results in a fire or loss of electronics. Boaters should use extra caution when thunderstorm conditions exist and have a plan of escape. weather.gov/lightning #LightningSafety

Thunderstorms can develop quickly and produce strong winds, pounding rain, and deadly lightning - a mariner’s worst nightmare. If you see clouds beginning to pile up, thunderstorms are likely beginning to develop. Don’t wait until you can hear thunder or see lightning.
