Tropical Storm and Storm Surge Warnings for the North Carolina Outer Banks; Heat Building in the West

Storm surge flooding and tropical storm conditions are expected in the Outer Banks beginning late Wednesday. Tropical Storm and Storm Surge Warnings are in effect. Tropical storm conditions are possible along the eastern shore of Virginia Thursday. Overview

Supercell thunderstorms developed during the afternoon hours on June 28 across portions of Iowa.  Several confirmed tornado touchdowns were reported across the state including seven in the Des Moines forecast area.  In addition, reports of golf ball to baseball sized hail were also received.
