Damage was observed along Mac Pittman Road from Highway 569 to Highway 323, along Moss Road east of Mac Pittman Road, and along Highway 323 from Mac Pittman Road into the community of Bengal. Damage suggested widespread 65-70 mph winds, with embedded pockets of 85 mph winds. No tornadic damage was evident, but the strongest winds were likely associated with small, transient eddies. On July 14, a NWS survey team conducted a survey of damage from July 13 storms in three counties in south central Kentucky. The team confirmed two EF-0 tornadoes and one EF-1 tornado in addition to observing widespread downburst wind damage. One of the tornadoes crossed the state line into Tennessee just a few miles west of Dale Hollow Lake. .Green County Tornado... EF Scale Rating: EF-0 Estimated Peak Wind: 85 MPH Path Length/Statue/: 0.7 miles Path Width/Maximum/: 100 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: Jul 13 2015 Start Time: 7:13 PM CDT Start Location: 12 SSW Burkesville Start Lat/Lon: 36.6276 / -85.4374 End Date: Jul 13 2015 End Times: 7:15 PM CDT End Location: 12.5 SSW Burkesville End Lat/Lon: 36.6189 / -85.4312 Survey Summary: This small tornado destroyed one outbuilding and tore roof panels off another before crossing the state line into the Pearidge area of Tennessee just west of Dale Hollow Lake. There was actually considerable more tree damage in southwest Cumberland County resulting from a prolonged period (15-20 minutes) of 60-70 mph winds that occurred in conjunction with the storm that produced this tornado. A conservative estimate of several hundred healthy large trees were uprooted or had their trunks snapped by these winds in a 2-mile wide swath over the forested southwest corner of the county. A similar blow down occurred in a 3-mile wide area in and near Marrowbone in the northwest part of Cumberland County.
