National Weather Service United States Department of Commerce
April 27, 2011 - Do You Have a Story to Tell?

April 27, 2011...A day that very few Alabamians will ever forget. It will forever be remembered as one of the darkest days in Alabama weather history.

The National Weather Service in Birmingham would like to remember those who were lost and honor those who helped during the recovery period. We have created a webpage that chronicles the event and includes before/after photos, rebuilding efforts and personal stories for those who were affected, either during or after the event. The webpage serves as a "Family Album" of sorts, with content provided by us and stories/photos submitted by YOU, the public. Rather than a static webpage, it will be dynamic, and updated for years to come.

You can view the webpage, or Story Map, at the following link arcg.is/1TLbuo5

Do you have a story or memory from the event that you would like to share? What about videos or before or after photos? Whether it's a story of sadness, loss, relief, thankfulness, joy, recovery, rescue, or rebuilding, we would love to include it on the above webpage. We want to document all aspects of the event, from the beginning to the continued rebuilding efforts. Our goal is to have each story or photo represented by a clickable point on the map.

Please include the following information:

  • Your name (first or first & last)
  • Location relevant to your story or memory.
  • Before and/or after photos, or videos
    • Be sure to include a detailed location of the photo(s) or video

Note: Locations should be as detailed as possible in order for us to display them accurately on the map. However, we will not be posting exact street addresses.

You can submit your story, photos or videos via one of the following methods:

Disclaimer: All submissions will only be viewable through this Family Album (webpage).
