Severe thunderstorms developed during the late afternoon and evening hours on Tuesday, August 7. All of the severe weather reports were in the form of convective wind and wind damage. In Amarillo, damage from a very small scale microburst caused damage at the VA Hospital. The damage was determined to have been caused by winds between 75 and 80 mph. A center pivot system sustained damage in Wheeler County near New Mobeetie. In addition, sporadic but beneficial rainfall fell in some locations, including 1.42 inches at McLean, TX.
