While chances of showers and thunderstorms remain on the lower end today (10-30%), there will be a low chance that any storm that can develop could become severe, especially in the northwestern Panhandles. There is a low chance of severe thunderstorms this Sunday, likely beginning in the Northwest between 4 and 5 PM. The activity is expected to move southeast during the evening and could persist in the South Central Panhandles until early Monday morning.

We will be watching for the potential for showers and thunderstorms to develop starting Sunday afternoon. Some of these storms may become strong to severe during the afternoon and night, mostly in the northwestern combined Panhandles. A 10-40% chance for showers and thunderstorms continues into the nighttime hours.

There is a 15% to 40% chance for thunderstorms to develop Monday afternoon and evening across the Panhandles. Will have to watch for thunderstorms to become strong to severe, with hail up to 2" in diameter and wind gusts up to 60 mph possible. There is a very low chance for tornadoes.

Should severe thunderstorms occur, they could begin as early as 5 PM in the northern Panhandles and as early as 7 PM in the southern Texas Panhandle. Most likely time for severe thunderstorms is between 6 PM to 10 PM in the north and 8 PM to 12 AM in the south. However, this timing may change as the forecast becomes clearer.
