Dangerous Heat in the Central and Southern U.S.; Thunderstorms and Heavy Rain in the Northern Plains

Dangerous, prolonged heat is expected across portions of the Central and Southeast U.S. through July. Scattered severe thunderstorms are expected over parts of the northern Plains into the upper Mississippi Valley Tuesday, with damaging winds and large hail as the primary threats. Several inches of snow fell in the Central and Northern Mountains of Colorado this week.  1 to 3 feet of snow was common with a few spots receiving up to 5 feet over the western portions of Jackson County based on data from Snotel sites.  An average Snow Ratio of 12:1 was used to get snowfall estimates.
