On average, the first frost of the year occurs in early to mid October. Many locations will experience their first frost of the season tonight or tomorrow night, which is in line with historical weather data.
A few spots could reach 32 Friday morning, which would be a little bit earlier than average for a first freeze of the season. Here is a graphic showing first freeze climatology for climate sites across the area.
🌧️ A weak low pressure system will linger across Lake Erie this weekend which may bring some rain showers to portions of Northeast Ohio and Northwest Pennsylvania. 🌤️ For today, sunshine with passing high clouds and seasonable temperatures are expected.
Despite rain across portions of the area this week, drought and abnormally dry conditions persist areawide. Extreme Drought (D3) conditions spread across locations that received very little rainfall. This is the most widespread D3 conditions have been for the local area since the weekly U.S. Drought Monitor began in 2000.
