A broad threat of scattered severe thunderstorms and heavy showers will exist across the central and southern High Plains into Sunday, including areas well off to the east into the Mid-South and Tennessee Valley. Summertime heat is expected this weekend with heat index values topping 110 in some areas. Be careful if spending time outdoors and be sure to stay hydrated.
Mostly sunny skies are expected today across area beaches with temperatures in the upper 80s. The rip current risk remains low, but LOW risk doesn't mean NO risk, please use caution when in the water.
Tonight will be partly cloudy across much of the region with light southeast winds. Overnight lows will range from the mid 70s inland to around 80 near and along the coast.
Mainly dry conditions continue through the weekend as temperatures warm to above normal levels. Heat index values will climb above 110 this weekend as well. Rain chances increase Tuesday.
