Areas of Severe Thunderstorms and Heavy Rain Possible through the Weekend

There will be daily chances for scattered thunderstorms across portions of the Central and Eastern U.S. through the weekend, with severe thunderstorms possible in the northern Plains and Upper Midwest. Tropical Depression Two continues to churn in the Bay of Campeche. It is expected to briefly strengthen into a tropical storm before making landfall in Mexico early next week.

There is a medium (30-60%) chance of showers and thunderstorms today with the higher chances across the Coastal Bend and Victoria Crossroads. Highs in the upper 80s east to the upper 90s west. Southeasterly winds will generally range from 10-20 mph.
Partly cloudy skies tonight with lows in the mid to upper 70s. A few showers will be possible along the coast overnight. Southeast winds 5-10 mph.
If you are heading to the beach today, you can expect scattered storms and mostly cloudy skies along the Middle Texas Coast. Highs will be in the upper 80s along with southeasterly winds 10-15 mph and waves 2-4 feet. There is a LOW risk of rip currents. Please use caution if entering the waters.
A 40-65% chance of thunderstorms continues into Monday. Rain chances are generally low (10-30%) the remainder of the week. Highs will range from the upper 80s to mid 90s through Thursday, then warmer conditons expected on Independence Day. Lows in the 70s to around 80.
