Atmospheric River Bringing Heavy Rain to Southern California and Heavy Snow to the Sierra Nevadas

A strong atmospheric river will continue heavy rain over southern California through Friday. The heaviest rainfall is ongoing today in the Los Angeles Basin. Flash and urban flooding is possible. A prolonged heavy snowfall has begun over the Sierra Nevada Mountains and will continue through Friday. Travel will become increasingly difficult over the passes due to snow and strong winds. Overview

Widespread rain showers and some isolated thunderstorms spread across much of the Red River Valley region, targeting the northern valley and specifically the Grand Forks-East Grand Forks area. In Grand Forks, local drainage was unable to keep up with the heavy rainfall rates, resulting in multiple reports of street flooding. The majority of the reports were between the Columbia Mall and the Hugo's on 32nd Street South. The graphic shows rainfall totals based on reports from the public and our partners.
