Atmospheric River Bringing Heavy Rain to Southern California and Heavy Snow to the Sierra Nevadas

A strong atmospheric river will continue heavy rain over southern California through Friday. The heaviest rainfall is ongoing today in the Los Angeles Basin. Flash and urban flooding is possible. A prolonged heavy snowfall has begun over the Sierra Nevada Mountains and will continue through Friday. Travel will become increasingly difficult over the passes due to snow and strong winds. Overview

Severe thunderstorms with large hail moved through the Devils Lake region on the evening of Thursday June 14 and the early morning hours of Friday June 15, 2018. Three tornadoes occurred with this activity, two in northern Towner county and one in western Cavalier county. A second round of severe thunderstorms developed over southeast North Dakota in the early morning hours of June 15th, mainly from Lisbon to the Fargo-Moorhead area. These storms also produced large hail.
