Overview

On March 11th and 12th, a potent winter storm impacted the Northern Plains and Upper Midwest. Blizzard conditions were observed in the Devils Lake Basin southward to Valley City, ND. East of this area, near-blizzard conditions were occurring alongside heavy snowfall, with rates ranging from 1-2 inches per hour. Travel was significantly impacted along Highway 2 between Grand Forks and Devils Lake, I-29 between Grand Forks and Fargo, and stretches of I-94 west of Fargo. Snow accumulations across the region measured mainly between 6-10 inches; however, in some areas, accumulations exceeded 12 inches.
