Severe Thunderstorms and Heavy Rainfall in the Southern Plains; Heat Continues in the West

Strong to severe thunderstorms may bring areas of excessive rainfall and flooding over parts of the southern Plains today through Friday. Hot to dangerously hot temperatures are forecast across portions of the Pacific Northwest and southern Great Basin today. Overview

A thunderstorm produced a tornado in western Marathon County about five miles east of Colby. The tornado occurred about 11:20 AM and was on the ground for almost 4 1/2 miles before dissipating. Over a dozen homesteads/farms were affected. The tornado was rated EF1 with peak winds around 90 mph.
