Severe Thunderstorms in the Northeast and Northern Plains; Critical Fire Weather in the West

Scattered severe thunderstorms capable of damaging wind gusts and hail are forecast across the Northeast U.S. and North Dakota today. Heavy to excessive rainfall is possible over eastern New Mexico into western Texas and over the western Florida peninsula today. Untreated roads, sidewalks, and parking lots will remain icy/slippery this afternoon.

The last significant round of freezing precipitation has ended for most of the area. However, there is a chance of a few periods of light mixed precipitation, along with freezing fog, through the afternoon. Where temperatures have climbed to or above freezing, light rain is expected. 

Untreated roads, sidewalks, and parking lots will remain icy/slippery!  Make sure to drive / walk with caution.
