Severe Thunderstorms and Flooding Threat in the Central U.S.; Rip Currents Along East Coast Beaches

Widespread thunderstorms will continue across the central and southern Plains today ahead of an approaching cold front. Heavy to excessive rainfall could lead to instances of flash flooding. Flood Watches have been issued. Swells from Hurricane Gabrielle are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions along the U.S. East Coast over the next couple of days. Untreated roads, sidewalks, and parking lots will remain icy/slippery this afternoon.

The last significant round of freezing precipitation has ended for most of the area. However, there is a chance of a few periods of light mixed precipitation, along with freezing fog, through the afternoon. Where temperatures have climbed to or above freezing, light rain is expected. 

Untreated roads, sidewalks, and parking lots will remain icy/slippery!  Make sure to drive / walk with caution.
