National Weather Service United States Department of Commerce

Key Points:

  • Abnormally Dry (D0) and Moderate Drought (D1) continue to expand across north-central and northeast Wisconsin over the past month.

Discussion:

Below normal rainfall was first noted in August and continued into September across portions of northeast Wisconsin. October precipitation was well below normal, with many locations across north-central and far northeast Wisconsin only recording less than 50% of normal during the month. The driest conditions were noted across north-central and far northeast Wisconsin. The dryness has continued into November, thus it is likely the conditions will continue to worsen through the middle of the month as the 6-10 Day CPC outlook was calling for below normal precipitation. There is some hope for improvement towards the latter half of the month as above normal precipitation is expected in the 8-14 Day Climate Prediction Center (CPC) outlook.
