Severe Thunderstorms and Flooding Threat in the Central U.S.; Rip Currents Along East Coast Beaches

Widespread thunderstorms will continue across the central and southern Plains today ahead of an approaching cold front. Heavy to excessive rainfall could lead to instances of flash flooding. Flood Watches have been issued. Swells from Hurricane Gabrielle are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions along the U.S. East Coast over the next couple of days. The NWS is presenting "Winter Weather Safety: Are You Weather-Ready?" at  locations in north-central and northeast Wisconsin this fall.

The hour-long talk will highlight winter weather facts, safety tips, basic training on winter weather reporting, and the outlook for the upcoming winter season, including a discussion about this year's La Niña. 

The presentations are free and open to all!
