Last Map Update: Mon, Jul 7, 2025 at 12:50:11 am CDT

A boundary may spark a late afternoon storm or two in the eastern Texas Panhandle. Otherwise, most activity should come out New Mexico this evening. Similar to last night, storms should weaken as they move east and western areas will have greatest rain chances and potential for thunderstorm impacts. Lighting, heavy downpours and gusty winds will be the greatest threats with these storms although some 1" hail can not be ruled out. Most of the area remains in the lowest severe risk category (level 1 out of 5).
The entire Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles has a low chance for severe storms today. A few rounds of storms are possible so the severe storm threat may last into Sunday night across portions of the area. The primary concern will once again be damaging wind gusts and a lesser threat for large hail. Any storms that form may also have heavy rain in addition to the severe storm threat.
Chances for storms will continue especially during the early and late week periods. These storms will likely produce at least a low risk for severe weather when they occur. The driest days during the mid-week period will be the hottest days and highs will reach well into the 90s Wednesday and Thursday.
The rinse and repeat pattern of storms moving into the Panhandles from the west will continue on Monday. Storms will have the potential to become severe, with damaging winds remaining the primary hazard. Heavy rainfall will remain possible with any storms as well. There may be a better chance for storms to push further east on Monday, so stay tuned for updates.
