Extreme Heat and Tropical Storm Bertha Impacts

Dangerous heat will expand from the Gulf Coast into the Southern Plains and Desert Southwest through week's end. Additional extreme heat impacting the Pacific Northwest will shift to the northern Plains by the weekend. A STRONG WINTER STORM MOVED ACROSS WEST TEXAS ON THURSDAY
RESULTING IN MAINLY HEAVY ACCUMULATION OF RAIN...WITH HEAVY SNOW
ACCUMULATIONS REPORTED IN THE SOUTHERN TEXAS PANHANDLE. LIGHT
DRIZZLE TO LIGHT RAIN SHOWERS BEGAN IN THE EARLY MORNING AS THE
STORM SYSTEM MOVED INTO THE AREAS. THEN BY MIDDAY THE SOUTHWESTERN
PANHANDLE BEGAN TO CHANGE OVER TO SNOW. THE CHANGE OVER FOR THE
SOUTH PLAINS WAS SLIGHTLY MORE GRADUAL...WITH SOME BACK AND FORTH
INTO THE EVENING HOURS.
