Last Map Update: Tue, Aug 12, 2025 at 2:30:14 pm CDT

Numerous showers and storms are expected today and tonight. Isolated flooding could occur with some of the strongest storms, especially if training occurs over any particular location.
Monitoring the tropics: There are 3 areas of interest being tracked. The first is Tropical Storm Erin moving westward and is several days away from any landmass. The next is an area in the North Atlantic has a low (10%) chance of development over the next 7 days. The last area is at the mouth of the Mississippi River and has a (0%) chance of development. But this area will cause numerous storms with heavy rainfall which could cause isolated flooding issues. Now’s a great time to review your hurricane plans!
Summer T-Storms - Knowing the Threats: If the forecast today calls for Scattered afternoon storms, typical threats include frequent dangerous lightning, localized flash flooding and sudden strong wind gusts. Be weather aware! If you hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning! Move indoors to a sturdy structure until the storm passes. If you are on or near water and see a storm approaching, get out of the water and move indoors or inside a vehicle! If traveling and encounter water covered roads, Turn Around Don’t Drown! HAVE A PLAN in case a storm strikes. Don’t risk riding out a storm outdoors!
