An arctic cold front will impact the Great Lakes, Northeast and mid-Atlantic. Snow showers and squalls will accompany this system with increasing winds and falling temperatures. Overview

Several rounds of thunderstorms moved across the region over several days from Monday, May 09 through Thursday, May 12, 2022. These storms produce hundreds of reports of severe weather across Minnesota and Wisconsin. The most significant event occurred on the evening of May 12, 2022, when a line of severe thunderstorms produced hurricane force winds across the eastern Dakotas and western Minnesota. This line caused widespread damage, with downbursts creating narrow swaths of enhanced damage, along with several tornadoes.
