Thunderstorms in the North Central U.S.; Dangerous Heat in Texas

There is a severe weather and isolated flooding threat from the Central to Northern Plains tonight into early Thursday. The severe weather threat will progress eastward to the Upper Mississippi Valley/Great Lakes into the Lower Ohio Valley Thursday. Join us for the Marquette Water Safety Expo near the McCarty's Cove parking lot on Friday, September 2, 2016.  This event will run from 11 a.m. EDT to 4 p.m. EDT and include information from the Marquette National Weather Service, Michigan Sea Grant, the City of Marquette, YMCA, U.S. Coast Guard and NMU.  This event will showcase the following:

  • Available rescue equipment on the beaches near Marquette (City of Marquette-Fire Department)
  • Information about the beach forecast and the different types of beach hazards (NWS Marquette-MI Sea Grant
  • Recreational activities, safety information and information on classes that are available provided by YMCA-NMU
