Here is an estimate of observed rainfall totals from Tuesday February 2nd. Heaviest amounts were confined to portions of western Kentucky and southwest Indiana. Portions of the Evansville area saw around 2 inches, with a daily record rainfall of 1.75 inches set at the airport. The southern Pennyrile region of west Kentucky got hit especially hard with over 3 inches around the Hopkinsville area. There was a sharp cutoff to the rainfall amounts with much of southern Illinois and southeast Missouri seeing less than a quarter of an inch.
The Evansville area saw intense rainfall rates fall over a short period of time Monday evening resulting in flash flooding developing across the city. Many roads became flooded and several cars were stuck in the high waters. Below are some of the flooding reports we received from the event:
