Hurricane Zeta made landfall in Louisiana, weakening to a tropical storm, as the center tracked directly over area from Northwest North Carolina through about Lynchburg and on to the northeast, but was transitioning to extra-tropical as it did so. Moving quickly, damaging winds became an increasing threat but heavy rain and flooding were also realized.
